Cihun-Siyong Alex Gong has been engaged in biomedical circuits and systems since starting his M.S. program. He received the BS/CE, MS/BME, and PhD/EE degrees in 2002, 2005, and 2008, respectively. At the end of the spring 2009, he joined the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan, as one of the technical R&D staff. He was the recipient of one of the 2004 Domestic Annual Symp. on Biomedical Engineering Excellent Paper Awards, one of the 2005 NYMU Honours Student Awards in memory of the Yin, Syun-Ruo, one of the 2008 NCU Outstanding Graduate Student Awards, one of the Best Student Paper Contest Awards in the 2008 IEEE Int. Conf. on Electron Devices and Solid-State Circuits, one of the 2009 Best Design Awards of the CIC, Taiwan, and one of the 2009 Taipei Int. Invention Show and Technomart Gold Medal Awards. Alex held adjunct Assistant Professor positions for the faculties of National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan, and National United University, Taiwan, in 2012-2013. He joined the faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Chang Gung University, Taiwan, starting Aug. 1, 2013, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. His research interests are in electronics for medicine and healthcare including interfacing-associated solid-state circuits and their physiological issues. He has authored a series of peer-reviewed papers published and been the reviewers for several internationally renowned journals and conferences, and holds six patents including the US one, earned him the Gold Medal Award, in the fields. His name has been included in the 2010 Edition of Who's Who in the World. Alex has been invited to chair the session Advanced Circuit and System on Green and Biomedical Applications for the IEEE ISCE 2013.

The Smart Application-specific Circuits and Systems Lab is currently recruiting self-motivated graduated and undergraduated students who are looking forward to doing mixed-signal (analog + digital) IC design, device realization using off-the-shelf discrete components, and system development for biomedical green electronics and instruments. Prospective students should be ready (mentally prepared) for having a broad, open mind to accept research challenges. Lab members will learn how to become a self-disciplined mature researcher under supervision. The laboratory director has a long track record of working with young people.
